  • I went to the first night in NH. Justin Townes Earle, Dave Rawlings Machine, and OCMS were awesome. Could've done without the Felice Brothers though. Maybe it was the big retard fiddle player that thought he should be the center of attention the whole time.

  • I was at the NY show, and while I love the Felice Brothers music, the hip-hop posturing of the fiddle player was really really distracting. The show had this really old-timey feel to it, like an old revue style show, but then this guy is out there waving around like he is at a rap concert, while holding a fiddle no less, and it just really spoiled the mood for me.

  • You're right everybody, the Felice Brothers are crap. Just like that other guy, Dylan. Who told him he could play and sing. In all seriousness the Felice's are writing some of the best songs I've heard in years. No they don't have the best voices and no they aren't the most amazing player. But they play/sing with heart and soul and that's what "folk" is about. It's the music of the people, that you can play no matter what your talent level.

  • And camwhorder, I'm pretty sure Cory was on the drums. Last night in Louisville he was there quite a bit towards the end. What a guy...let's see, he played mando, harmonica, keyboard, drums and banjo.

  • I'll admit that sometimes Farley seems out of place, but the whole Felice Brothers band is a strange combination. It's amazing that it works, but DAMN! it does. I'll second the fact that Greg is a wonderful guy. In St. Louis he basically told a girl fawning over him to shut up and listen to the opening act (Pokey LaFarge). I have a feeling he'll calm down with age, but until then he's still entertaining.

  • Geez.... Y'all quit harshin' on Farley. He's a super-nice guy and a very good musician. A friend and I were busking out front of a Felice Brothers show once and he came out and played a tune with us. He admitted he didn't know much old-time music but he fell right into the groove. After he played a bit, he threw a couple dollars in the case and walked off. Now THAT just goes to show you what a hell of a guy he is. Stop hatin'.

  • Thanks for posting this. I can't wait to see the show friday in Knoxville!

  • The best show of the summer tours--hands down. If you live in Virginia or Nashville, don't miss the shows headed your way. They played for 4 hours plus in Philly Friday night. Rawlings is amazing!

  • If you thought Dave Rawlings was boring, that's your opinion but I think the majority would disagree. The simplicity of Dave Rawlings Machine and Justin Townes Earle was part of the appeal IMO.

  • JESUBLIME65, is that you Greg Farley? Everyone around me at the concert was embarrassed for the guy. He was standing on the drums and smashing the symbols with the washboard. He was throwing his hand up and down like he was at a Run DMC concert, except there were only about 4 or 5 people in the crowd doing it back. It all seemed a bit juvenile and took away from what otherwise was pretty good music by the Felice Brothers.
