E60 M5 Launch Control (mic in engine bay = mistake)

Another video of my E60 M5 using SMG launch control only this time I made the BIG mistake of connecting an external microphone to my camcorder (Panasonic SD100) and then placing this external microphone securely in my engine bay right next to the howling V10.

I was hoping it might sound awesome but unfortunately I think it's backfired and sounds a little over the top and distorted but at least it's something different!

I just nipped to my local Maplins and bought two different mics to try out, I can't post URL's in here so just go to Maplin and search for:

The first one gave better (stereo) results but with a wind shield (also from Maplins) wrapped around it.

wow quite a different sound from the violent high howling waste noise that comes out of the rear

i still prefer the exhaust note vs the engine note, its pure extacy

i like this perspective tho :)
