I routinely make this face while taking a dump.

@fatherofludovika Most people have a resting G tolerance of 4.5 to 5.5Gs without even straining.

@Texownian Actually, hundreds of pilots go through the centrifuge every year. The standard F-16 centrifuge training profile keeps you at 9Gs for 15 seconds, instead of just touching 9Gs like this video...and at a much faster onset rate.

GLOC? Does that stand for Loss of Consciousness at Gs?

Ultimately this is a struggle between the heart's strength to pump blood to the brain and the increasing gravitational force equivalents pulling down on that column of blood. At 9 G's, that column of blood would only reach 1/9 as high as it does at 1 G.

Light loss refers to a panel of light that I am focused on in front of me. My eyes are open during this entire video (although it is difficult to see that at higher G levels). Blood flow to the retina has to overcome about 10 mm Hg intraocular pressure. As I begin to lose some peripheral vision (light loss on that panel), I am given a warning that I am close to losing consciousness. I don't start the straining maneuvers until that point (about 5.6 G for me).
