Iron Maiden's Flash of the Blade performed at Halley Feaster's senior cello recital on April 29, 2009.

Players are:
Halley Feaster, Mark Wood six-string electric cello;
Dean Capper, NS Design six-string electric cello;
Carson Groenewold, drums;
Madelaine Ripley, Zeta electric violin;
Leanne Greenman, vocals;
Jordan Alegant, bass

There's a slight screw-up at the end of the cello duel. Please be charitable, that's easy to do when it's hard to hear on stage!

  • Great cover. Those people who say that this in an offence againsy Maiden should perhaps take a second listen. The vocals are in tune, the harmony in the chorus is good. The melody is well represented (okay, so there's a bit of a boob during the cello break, and the death metal vocal bit is unexpected). At the end of the day, this is a good, unique cover of an awesome Maiden song, and as for the sound quality, what do you expect from a video camera...maybe Martin Birch should have been there!!!!!

  • @laticsdave Thanks for the comment, your level-headed assessment is a real breath of fresh air.

    The death metal section was more of a joke than anything, so "unexpected" is right! We were messing around with it in rehearsal, and it was so much fun that Halley decided to keep it.

  • why death growls at 3:33? lol

  • Just for fun.

  • oh ok, good performance by the way.

  • Thanks!

  • Good performance; great fun. Wish I had been there to watch it live :-)

    I'm sure Jordan can play upright bass :-) (hint)

  • @roytomb and... the "death metal" growl fit in really well I though - it was the growl of the dragon mentioned in the first verse of the song!

  • This was a great cover: well done to the whole band! I bet Iron Maiden would love it. All the jerks that have posted negativity need to get a life; it sounded great. I'd love to see them cover the song, and try to top your version. Obviously, no one can top Iron Maiden's original, but it's not like that was what you were trying to do. A fun homage to a great song and a great band! I think the keyword is fun: you guys look like you were having a great time! Up the Irons!

  • Very good! I love your song!

    When I was a teenager, I heard this song a lot, and this was perfect version of you even improvisation and duets for voice and Cellos!

    I'm sure that Mr. Dickinson and Band had a good laugh about that!

    Congratulations to all Band!

  • HOLLY CRAP THIS IS AWESOME!!! \m/ btw you met me at the mall yesturday :P

  • ¡Hostia!, Es malísimo.

  • In spite of the terrible acoustics, the electric cello / violin were great.
