I tried using one of these at home but the clay was too hard for it. Return it to the hire yard and swapped it over for a 'Dingo' ( four wheel diesel powered machine with bucket and powered auger attachments. It had more leverage than what I could get out of the cantilever type augers shown here. It took me about 45 minutes to did two holes. The Dingo dug in like a hot knife through butter.
