Acting Commissioner of Labor Colleen C. Gardner explains to the press what will happen if Congress fails to pass an extension of unemployment benefits by February 28. Governor David Paterson is urging Congress to pass an extension without delay, saying: "I strongly urge Congress to extend the unemployment insurance ben...efits beyond the February 28 deadline through the end of this year. Without this extension, approximately 575,000 New Yorkers will see an end to their benefits. With it, we will help to ensure the economic security of those who have already made sacrifices, scaled down spending and gone without."

I already demonstrated that you are a fool.

    And that adage is foolish.

You just want money, and have no reasoning why you should get it.

  • @evan13579b Ehhh...i'm done with it. You said your peice. Theres an old adage which i choose to live by... A wise man ( Me ) who argues with a fool ( You ) is perceived as a bigger fool than the uninfomed .

Good day to you , sir !

  • BillyKnockout:

Have you no brain? No argument? No logic?

All you can say is "Waaaaaaa! PAY ME MONEY TO SIT ON MY ASS OR YOU ARE A BAD MAN!"

Compare me to Bunning? Not an insult.

  • @evan13579b Senator Bunning ...is that you,lol ? Wow

  • BillyKnockout:

If you pay people not to work, they are less likely to work. It is that simple.

Waiting for the "recovery" before you get rid of unemployment benefits is backwards thinking.

    Unemployment insurance is stupid.

  • @evan13579b Silly me , what was i thinking ? All this time i'm thinking that it was the Bernie Maddoff's , NAFTA and the Rigas' to name a few that bankrupted the nation . You make it sound like its the unemployed's fault why the recession is'nt getting better . You forget , people have worked all their lives and PAID into the system to receive unemployment . you are'nt giving them anything . To shut off these benefits at such a crucial time is a slap in the face to the American taxpayer.

  • BillyKnockout:

How can the recession end when we are paying people to NOT WORK?

  • @74chov X2 .

I can't believe that in one of the worst financial crisis since the great depression that this package actually stalled . What are thay thinking ?

  • Thank you Governor, This is unreal, The Us is helping Haiti, what about your own people?
