Almost nine years of U.S. military action in Iraq is coming to an end as the troops prepare to come home. Nearly 4500 American servicemen and over 100 000 Iraqi civilians have died in the conflict. The war has cost the US around a trillion dollars. But are they leaving behind a better country? Has the intervention worsened Iraq's sectarian divide? Was it worth all the blood and dollars? We speak with young Iraqis and Americans about the last nine years in Iraq.

  • Thanks Ruwayda Mustafah I'm proud of you as a Kurd !

  • So you think more than 100,000 people dying is OKAY and it's a price that was inevitable to be paid by the Iraqis?! It's really sad that you feel that way... Shame on you!!

  • @LATALIS1950 Thank you :-)

  • From 1991-2011 your Kurdish government was saddam Husain too they killed more than saddam husain your people

I never forget that & I never forgive them !!!

  • @casper53704 we need a nany with metal hand to free the poeple of kurdistan from the two main parties and especialy Barzani Family....To freekrg.I am sure you know how Mr presindent won the Elecktion. If they let run a fair elecktion, he will not be able to won enough to become a mair of Zakho---

  • if that to be the result of US Invation and studying in US Uni,so I can say really disapointed. They have not so much to say.Is that what they learn?just praising US Invation. Are they dont see what the Barzani family how they invated Kurdistan.Go home and read some books than spending so much fund for low opinions...

  • @freekrg Not everyone are happy with the Barzani goverment, but most of the Kurds in South want him as president and this is who a democratic system works. It have been many election about who should be the president in South-Kurdistan and most of the people who live there have voted for him.

  • @freekrg Hello, brother. I also remember the terrible incident that happened in Slumanya in Feb-Apr 2011. But the people who protested did not do it in a peaceful and civilized way. They began throwing stones at the embassy. But KRG soldiers had no right to start shooting protest holders down either. So yes it is not entirely democratic in South Kurdistan (Iraq) now either, but it is much, much better than under Saddam's dictatorship regime.
