I remember him at the Earl of Old Town in Chicago and the Filling Station in Detroit in the early to mid seventies. I still love to hear his music and have several of his CDs. I love to hear various renditions of his songs. Steve Goodman did a great version of Crazy Mary.

Good rendition. Just the right speed.
My buddy sings it about the same.

The Wall & The Window loves you Michael P Smith.

Michael's work has been by me most of my life. I did not realize these songs were not Traditional as I grew older. I thought they had been around for a century.....His music is ageless and will be made forever...

He gave a wonderful concert last night at Trinity House in Livonia, Michigan. He deserves a larger audience.I've been going to his concerts since the Seventies.

I expected more haunting lyrics from this magnificent collection of poems by Edgar Lee Masters. Smith's lyrics seem strangely unrelated to the many poems I studied for years in acting classes. Nothing sounded familiar. Not a very rewarding song at all, although well played. His "Dutchman" is a wonderful story, compared to this.

He's living proof that mass popularity DOES NOT translate inversely to talent. Did I say that right? You get the idea.

Michael is a joy, a shining presence and I would travel most anywhere on the East coast to see him. I had the thrill of sitting about three feet away from him in a little house where he played "Vampire" and took my breath away.
Thank you all for recognizing MPS for the talent he is.
I am proud to be able to share these vidz from when he was my guest at a benefit concert I put on for my sister.
Inspiration abounds!
