The 501 sucks. One can't get smooth starts with it as it jerks. I just bought one & am very disappointed. I have an old #3063 that is a real fluid head & works great. I just found out the the 501 doesn't use silicon fluid but some sort of Teflon.

what camera did you use? HVR HD1000 or Canon HV30? I know it have a clearvid CMOS Sensor :). But tell me what camera that is.

Looking at the Merlin and this, I'm seeing lots of crap videos made with this one, but yours is excellent. I'm wondering if the difference is largely the operator rather than the $700 difference between this and the Merlin. Good job.
