The Great American Dollhouse Museum (Danville,KY) sends a lot of patrons to Louisville for its collection of terrific and easy-access museums-- KY Museum of Art and Craft being one of the highest on our recommend list. It's just 90 minutes from us and well worth the day trip.

I actually just moved from Louisville to Fort Wayne to go to Saint Francis. i miss Louisville tho.

Jefferson county schools do not fare well compared to other regions even though there are a few traditional schools that are exceptional the overall systems is mediocre. UPS can expand all it wants to here for the simple reason that those jobs are mostly minimum wage and short term at best. They provide income and prevent poverty however they do not create true wealth which again is the real measure of an economy.

You call Memphis a dump however it has about 3 times the wealth of Louisville for various reasons and much better nightlife and entertainment value. It just has more character and the same certainly says so for Atlanta. There is a mass migration of people moving there from California to escape the tax burden as well as other places. I dont see that same influx here.

Ford is actually stable. And the Chamberlain lane plant makes a lot of industrial trucks(obsolete dinosaurs that will always be needed). UPS just finished expanding several years ago. Jefferson County schools are very good. I agree with you on the tax situation, Democrats, which have controlled this city all my life, have taxed way too much.

Those are proportional statistics,so yes it does take into account size.Louisville is now about 1 million since the metro merger.Memphis is a dump and Atlanta isn't much better.About 40 years ago Louisville was bigger than both those cities. The residents made a conscious effort to not grow to large to fast and create the same problems those cities face.Until the early 1900's Louisville was one of the 10 largest cities in America and faced many of the problems that go along with that, we learned.

Some of those places are just imitating Whiskey Row.

I've lived in every one of those cities you just mentioned. Maybe it's you.

It's definately not cheap. When my friends and I go we usually get a large and it's like $25.00. I don't mind because for us it's a once in a while thing.

I've been through New Albany many times to goto the casino. I love the drive along the river there. Absolutely beautiful in the spring with the fields of flowers blooming on the side of the road.

I can't wait till the new sky scraper gets built. I love Louisville. Did you know that Louisville is the 26th largest City in the Nation (which is larger than Atlanta). Anyway, there's a bit of useless information for you.

I didn't know that. I do know there's a lot more to do there then here in Fort Wayne, IN. Much better night life and the museums are great.
