First, regarding the special relationship. UK politicians worry too much about this. The US and UK will always have a special relationship. That will never change. But we don't compare it to others and we don't talk about it because we just know it is there. When you know u have a best friend you just know it. Period.

Second Obama wouldn't snub Brown. Clearly he likes the PM. When they were in NY he had a busy time of it. Besides they talk by phone all the time anyway.

That Bush and Blair didn't? I mean that relationship was toxic but it was a special relationship. It even got the UK to commit to going into Iraq.

Obama and Brown had a different relationship but Obama respected it. The media said he didnt. It wasn't true.

@drexel3465 You what? There is no special relationship whatsoever, if it ever existed, it was between Churchill and Roosevelt. I personally have never believed in it, the US is a superpower and the UK is a middle weight power. There is no reason why they should consider us first, sure we should keep relations diplomatic but there is no reason on earth why we should the US first and keep away from Europe.

Europe is our future, if we have a special relationship with anyone, it is with India.

That's a waste of time and the UK expects that you will always be disappointed. the US will obsess about the US. Also the US has multiple allies if all of them wanted that that is all the US would be doing. Not going to happen. BUT when Obama was talking Iraq, Afgh, etc Gordon Brown was always there.
