I would argue that the same is true for Germanic heritage. According to the 1990s education that I went through you don't have a real heritage if you are of northern European ancestry.

Small and dependent nations? What BS is this?

Attack a people, Decimate their numbers, push the rest off their lands and thus steal their livelihood, forbid them from using their own language, kidnap their children and put them in "christian" homes, destroy what is left of their culture and then call them a dependent nation.

The Samis(and the Native nations of northern America for that matter) were doing very well by themselves before the barbarians came thank you.
