Upgraded from yesterdays version more vocals and added instruments

This was just for fun - to see what I could come up with. I was not quite ready to compose another song but wanted to sing something and record it. I always loved this song from Mariah.

This song is from Mariah Carey's Fantasy album released in 1995, a time when no one else could really sing like this in the pop world and very few in the soul world. Mariah had been around for 5 years at this point and going strong with this album. Not many pop stars that came out in 1990 were around in 1995. In the R&B world singers like Faith Evans and Mary J. Blidge where new and hot! Rappers like the brat and missy elliot came out. Becuase Mariah was just as smart then as she is today, she prepared for the change from the early 90's to the mid 90's with her Shawn puffy combs style "sampleing" song, Fantasy.

At that time no other Pop star had ever had a gangster or any kind of rapper in their pop oriented music. It was a bit much for me at the time but every one i knew who was not much of a fan of Mariah loved this song. This was the beginning of Mariah's journey towards who she really was musically rather than the Record executives motivated squeaky clean broad spectrum basic pop.

The singers out today in my opinion try to emulate this vocal style. I can do it to an extent but I have my own voice and style (as you may have noticed in my other posted songs). Some singers throw too many notes ( melisma ) into a word just because they can and they think it sounds awesome. It only sounds awesome when you are feeling the words and the emotions, the notes will with out effort, follow. That's just it, for some singers out today, there is just too much effort in trying to sing a certain way.

My advise to any one who wants to sing is sing only in a way that is natural to your voice. Explore your vocal abilities and range and record samples of yourself to hear which style range or keys best suits your voice.

I started this at about 6:00 today and finished recording it at around 8 then messed with the effects and eq's for about a half hour.

This was just for fun, now it's 11:00 at night and time 4 me 2 go to bed...

This upgraded version from the one posted the day prior, features re-recorded vocals, a synthesizer in the back round, added bongo drums in the background towards the end as wall as an African instrument that sounds similar to a xylophone. This was so fun to do! : )
