A Violin installation. Richard Bolai copyright 1989/90/2008
The installation you see here was a project that was completed at the Ontario college of Art in Toronto, Canada in 1990. The concept was based on the violin which was suspended with piano wire and was capable of being played in an unconventional way. The participating players could use the conventional bows, and as with this performance, the improvisation of the four participants showed the acoustic range of the piece.
further concepts of this piece included the use of a piano which its wire stretched across a open space. The room would ask as a sound box and the hammers would be triggered by motion sensors as people walked along the space
Wonderful! the sounds are really quite lovely
