Dean Meets Tommy Kent--Hank and Iris Talk

Jenna goes to check on Dean's test results while Dean visits Tommy Kent. At first Tommy thinks he's dreaming, but he soon realizes this is very real after Dean explains that Iris told him there was someone in this room he (Dean) would like to meet. Tommy says he heard on the radio that Dean got electrocuted or something. Dean says he got a really bad jolt but he's fine, although his doctor won't let him out so he can play again. Tommy replies that they tell him the same thing all the time. Dean asks Tommy how he's doing. Tommy says he's fine, but he's worried about Dean. Having to cancel two concerts in a row must have Dean freaked. Dean says he's just really worried about the fans. Tommy says sometimes you have to give up stuff you really want to do because you don't feel good, and the fans know that. "You think so?" Dean asks. Tommy says if they don't, he'll tell them. Then Tommy says it must be pretty late. Dean asks if Tommy's okay and offers to get somebody for him, but Tommy says he's okay, he just gets really tired sometimes, even if he sleeps all day. Dean sees a couple of Tommy's comic books and says he used to read those too. Tommy offers to let Dean borrow some, but Dean says he doesn't want to mess up Tommy's collection. Tommy says they're just comics, and who needs them when you've got a real-life superhero sitting at the end of your bed? Dean says he's not a superhero, but Tommy says Dean is a superhero to him. Who needs to go zapping around space like these guys in the comics? But playing in a band, like Dean... Dean asks if Tommy likes music, and Tommy replies that's what it's all about, isn't it? Dean says he guesses it is and asks if Tommy plays an instrument. Tommy says he plays keyboard a little, and Iris gave him a keyboard. He points it out to Dean. Dean says it's a great keyboard and Iris gives nice gifts. Tommy asks Dean not to tell Tommy's dad because Tommy's dad thinks Iris spoils Tommy. Dean agrees. Tommy then says he doesn't want Dean to think he's a dweeb, but he wants Dean to do something for him.

In the hall outside Tommy's room, Hank tells Iris he thinks he owes her an apology. He's been bashing her all the time for the clout she throws around the hospital. Iris says she probably deserved it. Hank continues that tonight, she used her clout to get Dean in to see Tommy, so he guesses it cuts both ways, and she can use to help people. Iris thanks Hank with a smile on her face, saying she wasn't always like that, but she guesses she must be learning. Hank says Tommy thinks Iris is the greatest, and Hank is starting to agree with him.

Tommy tells Dean he knows autographs aren't cool, but... Dean says he'll give Tommy an autograph, and that he'll also give Tommy a concert just from Dean to Tommy. Tommy's face shines with happiness and excitement. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.
