The decision by Israel's leaders to declare a unilateral ceasefire in Gaza has prompted mixed feelings among people living in its southern towns along the border with the Palestinian territory.

Barnaby Phillips reports from the town of Sderot, which in recent years has been hit by hundreds of rockets launched by Palestinian fighters based in Gaza.

  • first- the "Zionist" are the israelis, and part of them have been in in israel with the arabs many years ago.

the pals' have been "ejected from the lands" after openning awar in 1948 trying eliminate the young state of israel.

you can imagine what would hapen if israel was lost in that war -second holocaust.

israel is a democratic JEWS land.

by allowing 4-5 millions pal' returne into the istaeli state- its the end of iarael

no problem if they return to plas' authority/state.

  • yydamti the feeling is mutual and I greatly respect your culture and heritage but I cannot countenance the political Zionism that forced a foreign state on people. The Palestinians have no state is because it has been taken from them. They have been ejected from the lands of their forefathers. If they are allowed to return then they cannot cry out that there is injustice & I believe that this is how Israel should redeem itself in the eyes of the world. Justice is for all, not just those like us.

  • What you are saying is at odds with the fact that there has been a continual Jewish prescence in the land since the religion/culture first arose in the 13th and 12th centuries BCE. At no point since, even after the fall of the first and second Temples, has there not been Jewish people there. Thus I have to conclude if Jewish people wanted to be there then they could have been.

  • first- no they could not

there were no basic condition, political, job security, personal security or any other option for returning as a nation.

only after the first pioniers during the othomans time and the Balfour Declaration in 1917 -the basic condition were posible.

they could come before- and get slaughter by the mamlook, the crusaders, or the muslim.

or they could die in hunger.

its much dipper than you immagine.

many varyints such of history in europe- the emancipation and so on.

  • This is exactly what the British colonists said about my own nation so I know that it is just the racist denial by the colonist who is hated and surrounded on all sides. The Orangemen, the Afrikaaners, the Tibetan Chinese all say the same about the people they stole the land from.

  • Jewish people could have returned to the Holy Land at any point during the last 2,000 years but didn't. Even before the fall of the Temple there were Jewish communites all over the known world who had gladly left of their own free will in the spirit of adventure and enterprise. IIRC the Chief Rabbi in the Holy Land tried to call the diaspora back in the 600's and was totally ignored. The Qu'ran is as much bollocks as the Torah and shares the same evil retarded desert-god, I pay "him" no mind.

  • your english is much better than mine

so if i get you- Einstein was one of those who objected to the israeli state?

    cause its totaly wrong.

  • comoradh- i like you and your spirit

but you still missing the facts

    THERE WAS NO PALASTINIAN STATE!

in 1948 the west bank was jordanian, and gaza was egypt!

so if there were no war- thats was the situation till today! no palastinian state, no palastinian nation NOTHING!

now i know that the palas' ppl suffered cause of the stupidity of their brothers the arabs- but israel still had to defend itself

thats exatly whats hapennig those days in gaza and the hamas small terror group.

  • do we pray return africa?

3 to 5 times a day! The Jews pray for return to Israel. There desire never died.

in the holly books of the Jews the bible Jerusalem mentioned 653 times, in the SIDUR -the daily praying book - hundreds of times. Plea to there home land.

    In the Quran -none!

Even the Quran say that this land was given to the Jews - sura 5 -21, sura 10 - 93.

if you have a synagogue in your town - you can see that its front always toward Jerusalem and the holy land.(not to Mecca)

  • there was no palestinian people -as a NATION.

do you think there was any national connection between the tribes/villages in north palestine to those in gaza or the west bank?

the north palestine considers themselves connected to syria or lebanon, the west bank to jordan, and gaza to egypti.

suddenly after the 1967 war - Congratulations, a nation has been born- the palestinians.

its anew nation, no roots or tradition (except of terror).
