I guess this is a good place to ask... does anyone know the 'industry standard' method for demonstrating a vocal line in a song? As in, if I write a song intended for a higher female vocal I can't exactly sing a version myself as an example(!) so what's the best method for showing the vocal line? (I've tried with a guitar just playing the tune but it cannot accurately represent a voice.)

@AdamskiLawlerski ok here's the deal! we both agree that current music sucks and I by no means think that katy perry or ke$ha will be remembered in about ten years. They are to music now what Tiffany was to music in the '80's

@11willf I'm not saying it's brilliant, it's not. But seriously, don't you think it's better than fucking California Girls or Raise Your fucking Glass? Maybe Since U Been Gone was generic at the time, but these new chart toppers are at the apex of generic. I don't know how they'll be seen in years to come, but I hope there's SOME kind of musical progression in the charts....
