why dont we have people like this man running our goverment people connect to the nature in this way

@cobrajeff96 Check out the Drake equation. We as humans have come to that critical point, we have unlocked the power of the atom and now we must as a species seek out life in the universe.

super trippy

@cobrajeff96 I hope you're right, for the sake of the species.

@shackupyourstruly A star is merely one part of the cosmos. I called stars "gods" because of their ability to create and sustain things. As others seem to call things with such power gods. This one, the sun, would be our god: The star that was most likely to have provided the material and energy to create us and our planets. Nothing mythical intended, I was just kinda naming things according to these thoughts.

You could call it G:d. I call it Cosmos.

Stars blow up, synthesizing more elements and hurtling them into space, but planets don't blow up in this way, so nature cannot completely recycle. Now, I don't feel so bad *eyeroll* .

You'll find no arguments from me there. It is true. Humans have done great damage to each other and earth. I'm not sure if many other animals besides humans hold grudges or try to expand their control beyond their own physical reach, but there's no doubt we're the highest evolved intelligence in the world. And evidently, even that carries a price. Kinda makes ya wonder if any intelligence out there beyond earth has annihilated itself before venturing out to seek other life.
-
You raise some good points, but no other animal besides man has weakened the earth the way we have. Volcanoes may cause pollution once every couple decades, but humans pollute constantly. Humans take more than any animal could. And yes, plants and animals compete with each other, but they don't harm the earth to a level that is actually threatening to our very existence. Man has also sped up the process of extinction for many animals.
-
I wouldn't be so quick to say all that. Vines can suffocate trees. Hey, trees inadvertently compete with eachother for sun anyways. Ever see the baboons down in South Africa? Observe them for a little while before you say animals only take as much as they need. Some big cat species will defend a kill for days as long as they have a pack to feed.

Sagan said, "We are star stuff" and "a way for the cosmos to know itself."
All the atoms on earth and in our bodies came from supernova that blew up over 5 billion years ago.
Aren't we all just walking, talking stardust -- this cosmos become AWAKE and looking back at itself? -- and aren't we intimately connected to it all?
We are this wonder called life become AWAKE
Please enjoy the dance.
And ultimately there's nothing that separates us from others in this grand mystery. Please be kind.
