Just in case you are wondering how the Panasonic PT-AX200U does displaying HD video, here is a short clip from our product demo day. We are using the Movie Cowboy over an HDMI connection. We have also dropped our electric screen with matte white surface to create a more polished image. It looks great, but the image is a bit smaller than the wall shot we used for gaming, and our screen is not native 16:9.

  • Just picked up the euro version of this PJ as a clearance item for 350 quid and I have to say that it handles 1080p material extremely well.

Even though it's being downscaled it looks pretty close to full HD

  • Love this projector too! It was a good deal when it came out and its a good deal today - especially on clearance. It's got a lot of nice features for what you pay... and it does a very nice job scaling 1080... although you can see the difference head-to-head with a 1080p native projector... it gives them a run for the money. Enjoy it!

  • i had my heart set on this one and then i found the 1080p optima hd20 and once agian can't decide cause buying a projector is a big decision and i want to get the right one...

  • The good news is, they're both good projectors. So either way, you should be happy. The AX200U is a 'high end' 720p projector in that it has more bells and whistles, etc. While the Optoma H20 is an 'entry level' 1080p projector. Fewer features, but a lower price point in true 1080p resolution. But you can get the AX200U for about $50 less. So, if you're ready for 1080p now, Optoma HD20. If you can wait for high end 1080p at a lower price, get the AX200 for the features. Just some thoughts. :)

  • Wondering between this and Optoma HD65 , which 1 is better for picture quality

  • In terms of picture quality, you have an LCD versus a DLP image. Some folks are bothered by the DLP 'rainbow effect' but DLPs have a deep, rich color saturation which is nice for a home theater. LCD projectors have a somewhat more 'true to life" or accurate color. The AX200U does a great job scaling up to 1080p also. The HD65 might also, but I haven't seen it in person. I have seen the HD20 which is native 1080p and looks very good.

  • Hard to show the quality when you watch it in a highly compressed video on youtube.

  • still no match for my 103 inch panasonic plasma tv

  • Picture quality can be very subjective. Personally, I would pick the AX200U for the additional features (lens shift and gaming mode for example), but if you want to spend a couple hundred less, you are still getting a good projector for your money. We have the HD65 at $699 right now - but there may be limited availability. There is also the new Optoma HD20 which is native 1080p resolution for about the same price as the AX200U which is 720p. Hope that helps!

  • Sort of like Bluray commercials on DVD.

  • Beauuuutiful.
