  • Great information mrpete, Your videos are extremely educational and a pleasure. I look forward to applying my new found knowledge on a Logan Lathe. Thank You!

  • Lots of great info!

    Keep it up!

Any tips on reconditioning Lathe jaws?

The one i work on has been abused and is a nightmare to get anything mounted true.

    Thanx.

  • Thanks Tubalcaine, I can at last part off with confidence on my Raglan lathe. (a bit like the Atlas). Like yourself I spent a good few years of my younger life in engineering firms and found parting off no problem at all, so just couldn't understand why parting off was proving so difficult on my home lathes. within half and hour after watching all of your parting off videos I was parting off 1" steel bar USING THE CROSS FEED, something I would have never dared. Thanks again. Bill W. (UK)

  • KNOW EXACTELY WHAT YOU MEAN GOOD JOB

  • Another great shop tour. You have given me many good ideas of how to use my hold downs. Thanks again-

  • Hi Tubal, I would just like to express my sincerest thanks for all of your videos. i have just finished a Machine Shop Tips marathon over the last week or so and it really has been of great assistance and inspiration to me. If only I could of had you as a shop teacher or a shop class at all for that matter. so thanks again and i am really looking forward to seeing what else you bring us in the future.

  • Tubalcain, Hi I also love the older Popular science mags. Thanks for finding this artical on such a simple but difficult to master subject

  • Thanks! This has been a break through for me. I've been feeding too slow and wasn't keeping a continuous chip and I got lots of chatter. Did some parting this weekend on some aluminum bushings with much better success with a faster feed rate. Thanks again!

  • mr pete I hope everything is okay, you haven't uploaded much lately? I sure miss your videos and narrativeness. I still have so much to learn from you, don't stop now :)

  • But but, what's wrong with airplanes and computers? They're great!
