The saddest part in this is not Jack dying, but Rose (old) saying "Jack Dawson only lives in my memories".

It is common sense that she died. This is her heaven. The Titanic was the happiest moment, because of her death so of course she would go back to it. There she would have jack & everyone that passed away on the ship. A beautiful and touching scene. This scene & when she jumps back on the ship while in the lifeboat, I believe are the most touching scenes in the movie.

in my culture, we are told that when we are dreaming of a deceased family member/or close significant others, and they reach out their hand to you we (wake the fuck up if possible) should think twice because it usually means they're inviting you to die with them, and in this scene Rose reaches his hand, so i interpreted it that she has in fact died, and accepted it.

It isn't a dream because most of the nice dead people are on the titanic here. The ones who survived aren't there...
Also, Jack said she will die an old woman in her bed...
I think she may have died whilst dreaming.

Really clever use of the object recognition from scene to scene (like the glass ceiling) so emotional and whoever dislikes it it weird! x
I think James Cameron says that the ending is left open to interpritation and that you could think of it as a dream or her death.

ComeOnPeople,TheWholeSenseOfThatSceneIsThati t's not aDream, butHerDeath! She told her story, left the diamond in the ocean and she was free and ready to die.Rose was the last Titanic cruise member who had stayed alive. She was greeted by all the Titanic passangers, crew, and the most important person for her-Jack.Everybody was smiling, people were happy, they were already in another world. All together, with Rose. Beautiful scene, which wouldn't be even a half that beautiful if interpreted as a dream!!
