Steve jobs is a funny duck. I dont think he has ever written a line of code in his life. In this interview, he talks about fonts, and taste, and bla, bla, bla. So what does he do? He forms a partnership with Adobe to get what he wants. Many were of the opinion that the Mac GUI of the 80s was pretty bland and one dimensional. Windows 3.1 did have proportional fonts, and later MS invented ClearType, then OpenType.
