Journalists bullied and maced by riot police at Republican National Convention

Blatant disregard of our first amendment rights. A journalist is pushed to the ground and then I'm maced in the side of the face as I'm filming.

@toiletsrus Riot police? Is there this magical force of roving "riot police". These are the same cops who work every day, traffic cops, beat cops, detectives, the guy who works in the crime lab, just regular cops.

But when a riot occurs the city expects them to protect the property within that city and keep order. Kinda simple.

Traditionally there are undercover agents from government agencies that start the violence on the "public side", breaking windows, name call the police, picking up sticks and so-on, to allow the police the "cause" to become violent. This is the way our country abuses it's people. It is disgusting that the police are ordered to act this way, shameful. Shameful that the police have a culture of arrest and abuse. I am sad they go in as our cousins and brothers and turn into brain washed monsters.

You need evidence that the purpose of riot police is to suppress dissent? Watch the documentary "The Miami Model" and get back to me. It is a very good piece on the breakup of the PEACEFUL anti-FTAA protests in Miami and it explains how the tactics used by Riot Police there are the same tactics employed by riot police all over the world, and how the media is used to defend police action

Could you show me your logic that has made you come to the conclusion that the police force is "loyal" to the government in that they supress dissent.

On top of that, you really don't understand how the world works if you think the police force is inter-connected with the government on a level that you are going to get conspiracy.

Cops are largely joe blogs, they do there job, and go home. They have no "loyalty" to the government.

these aren't a bunch of internet nerds wearing masks and talking shit about a cult, they're PROTESTING THE GOVERNMENT. of course the government "isn't cool" with people protesting them. They never have been, and never will be. Governments always silence dissent.
