Aikido free movement - "One Between the Two"

This is a video of Miles Kessler Sensei of the Integral Dojo, Tel Aviv, demonstrating Integral Aikido. It was taken during a "jiyu waza" (free movement) class at a seminar in Lund, Sweden, Nov. 2009.

The quote in the clip is from Evolutionary Spirituality teacher Andrew Cohen. Aikido founder O Sensei taught that the goal of aikido is to achieve non-dual oneness and jiyu waza is an expression of this oneness. This video is of aikido exercises that lead the practitioner towards a direct experience of this oneness in relationship, or the "one between the two".

" 'One between two' means the experience of Oneness in the context of relationship. It is the experience that both the self AND the other are not two. This changes everything.

The direct experience of Oneness breaks out of the subjective experience of the individuals and becomes the shared intersubjective context in which relatedness occurs.

Miraculously, nonduality is no longer just an abstract idea or even a personal revelation, but becomes the very foundation of the culture between us.

To me this is what enables the power of enlightened awareness to affect real change in the world. The discovery of intersubjective nonduality is One between Two.

It is nothing less than the ground for creating an enlightened culture."
