  • One idea you could try is lining the entirety of your cabins roof with solar panels.

  • @gaaraman082

Solar panels work best only in direct sunshine and sun in winter is at a lower arc. My panels are on the porch roof which faces true south for optimal sunshine.

  • would a voltage regulator control the voltage to your battery

  • @SuperMax328

You can attach a power controller and dump system to these wind turbines but I would look at the Air X in my other videos if you will be using these for a full time power source. They have an integrated power controller.

  • @solarcabin - With all the solar and wind turbines, how many watts are you producing now? I love your videos and I hope to do exactly what you did, but with a 1kw solar system. :)

  • @TheIPODtouchFanboy

The combined system has an output total of 1kw but of course it depends on how much sun and wind I get. Solar is 580 watts and wind turbine is 400 watts. Go with more solar before trying wind.

  • another idea to get generators, if you find someone who works at a tractor supply or something that get return generators they usually sell cheap if they dont run because they usually sell for scrap but the generators usually work in them but returned because they wont start. im buying some for 20 dollars each 1500 watts

  • And what do you use for internet connection and computing? Are you using 3G data connection or a satellite service? I like the setup. Could you give more details on other aspects of the house such as sewer system, water collection, refrigeration for food. Do you have a orchard, etc. Do you produce your own food there or is it more a side project/hunting shed? Keep up the good work. Utah is gorgeous! :)

  • @solarcabin You could theoretically make a setup that turns the panels as the sun moves across the sky. This wouldn't use much electricity at all and would bring a much better solar harvest...

  • @solarcabin ahh ok Lord yes it gets very cold up there .. burr ...but it's pretty ..: )
