I had tried this method last season and, while it worked out fine, I feel that doing the bleed the way Shimano suggests yields better results. The only items I needed to do the bleed was a syringe ($2 @ Target, used to inject stuff into food), 1/8" clear tubing (any hardware store), and one of those baby snot suckers (to remove the fluid from the reservoir. Very easy!
Search YouTube for "Part 1: XT Disc brake setup..."
Use the snot sucker in place of the clamp on part.

if you have an old set of pads...that could be used instead of the spacer.

Great clear instructions, just what I wanted. Could do one for changing hoses ?

@Winprog15 Back to the Shimano site and a swift, perfect bleed! My "disabilty" truly conquered! ;o)
Short-cuts are.....errrr........short-cut
s! Happy riding and may the (brake?) force be with you! :) :) :)
Great Job!! I used this step by step and it work perfect. The bike shop wanted almost $80 to do what i just did using your instructions.. Thank you

@sbwhitley You´re welcome :) I´m always amazed how much do the shops charge just for a simple brakepad change or a bleed .. Yep, it´s a little bit of a dirty job but it´s not that bad :) I´m glad I helped you :)

@climbingkev I think that´s your disability to do stuff well :) I don´t want to offend you but this works for me :) I´ve been using this method for about 5 years and it has never failed :)
