And Punk rock for sure. the sweet were a lightweight pop band at first, but got sick of that stuff and turned to the more hard rock sound of era(they were big deep purple fans for eg) . Their sound though, developed a hard rythmic edge(palm muted distorted power chords, 1-2-3-4 for eg) that would be the backbone of punk and thrash a few years later.
