It's the beautiful and depressing story of a friendship between the son of a Jewish doctor and the son of an aristocrat in Germany in the 1930s. It's one of my favourite films.

I've watched this years ago. This was one of my favorite 90s movies. Very well directed and acted, and I loved the idea of their friendship impacting every moment of their lives (whether that life was lived to its fullest or cut short by an act of imprudent bravado). Brilliant movie! Thank you for uploading snippets of it.

I also seem to remember Jason Robards in this as well. He was fantastic as the older Strauss.

This is an absolutely wonderful film. Very well acted and both boys (Christien and Sam) did a brilliant job. I would love to see the two of them acting together again as adults. The scene in the gym is so moving! I have seen the whole film as I obtain a VHS version off Amazon.
