Albinism VS. Albino

I want to know how u feel about being called Albino Instead u have Albinism? I think people should use the word Albinism. What do u think???????

I turned 50 this year. I ca tell you, I feel that the terms alcino and albinism are both connected to negative social connotations. I believe we ought to be called platinums. Platinum refers to a valued precious metal. it also refers to classic icons in the music and movie industries. Listen Lil' Sis, we have something that Lady Clarol and others endeavor to recreate--a platinum! : )

I am albino, I think for me it is how people use the words that determine how I take it. For example my close friends use albino because they aren't being offensive. However outsiders typically are so it is not alright then, again it is just how it is being used for me. I call myself albino.

i think albinism sounds like a condition you suffer from and albino is more a feature or something that has to do with your identity

@plushbanana I get where you're coming from, any word can transform into an insult if enough people put their negativity behind it, I've never known anyone with albinism so I haven't had the opportunity to use either term.
