@AsILayDyingOWNS77: Yeah, everything is ok when done "calmly". If you calmly tell your kids you'll kill their cat if they don't listen, that is obviously ok too, right? I mean, you didn't do it in "anger". If you do something in anger or not is not always relevant. Hitting is violence, period. Just because you calmly beat up your kids doesn't make them feel the pain or humiliation any less!

@WorldTurnBlack could I have the name of the dictionary where you got that definition from? and can you explain your logic on how hitting a child is abuse only if your hit them a certain number of times. Are you saying that 6 is the magic number? 6 hits is fine and great, but 7 hits is wrong? Can you explain where you got that number from? If you respond, I am not interested in your opinion, give me information please or at the very least, logical thoughts.

a spanking. defined as hitting the ass cheek portion of your child's behind with your open hand and only enough force as you would if you slapped someone in the face, and only for 5-6 times is not abuse. if any of you bothered to take anatomy class, the ass is filled with, guess what? FAT. no vital organs! not like the head or the back.

@MrCherryCola the trouble being parents don't know the correct way to spank, and how much force to use. you only use enough force as you would if you had to slap your husbands face. if you watch tv and baseball games they slap eachother harder on the ass then parents would ever do,basketball games as well. honestly not every child grew into a monster because mommy put him over her knee and gave her 5-6 hard slaps on her ass

@WorldTurnBlack Maybe, a light smack on the butt, but it should be used as a last resort. I got spanked once in a while, but my parents did it as a last resort. Other times they take away t.v. and send me to my room. THey were firm and consistant

I have a question for all the parents who "don't spank" and use "timeouts"

You find your 11 year old daughter in her room with a kitchen knife. She cut up the neighbors cat into 50 pieces,Alive! What do you do?

Your 9 year old son nearly burns down your neighbors house, and he put a bomb in the mailbox and nearly killed the mailman!

Do you think this kind of behavior is going to be solved by taking a "timeout"

@ShadyLady91 - Well you have to dicipline your kids somehow... I do believe in spanking because it doesn't hurt your kids physically. It's on your kids butt where there is a lot of meat (muscle/fat) and that should keep your kids from attaining bruises from it. Smacking your kids (like a light tapping) is not going to kill your kid, it will shape them and is the best for them.

i think that you should spank a child only if the misbehave but do it with in reason.i am a mother of 2 children ,i give them a verbal warning first i tell them dont do that thats naughty etc.....i then tell them if you do it again i will smack you and take your toys away,for me that works
