It is the culmination of a search throughout the city to find twenty-one women who will compete for the chance to represent Bristol in the Miss England National Final.

The winner of the Miss England final will go on to represent England at the Miss World competition in Vietnam. Organisers have made an effort to improve the image of the competition this year. The competition has no swim suit round, and will be used to raise awareness of environmental issues.

The competition has generated a lot of excitement, as it is the first time since 1968 that Bristol has held a full pageant to decide the woman who will represent the city. The entrants who will be competing on Sunday can be viewed at the Miss England website. There will be three rounds to the competition - Evening Wear, Eco Wear and Casual Wear.

The Miss Bristol pageant will be held in the Wessex Room of The Grand hotel, and is expected to be a glamorous affair. It is being organised by Stages Hair Design of Westbury on Trym, and both the current Miss England Katrina Hodge and former Miss England Laura Coleman will be at the event to crown the winner. There will also be an after party at Rewind nightclub in Corn Street.
