@PlasticPee Store the Gem in a chest where you know you can find it! Go to jail, then return to the chest once you have served your time :)

I stole the Unusual Gem in the Jarl of Whtierun's bedroom. It caught my eye because it's floating in its case ... and now ALL the guards of Whiterun are after me. It asked me if I want to go to jail. But I didn't want to lose the Gem and ran and now whenever they kill me I will spawn back at Whiterun and be slaughtered again .. Someone please help. I don't want to create a new character again .. Is there a way to stop this?

Does moving the lockpick from left to right make any different sounds that tells you where to pick?
