OFW beheaded in Jeddah

The beheading by sword of an Overseas Filipino Worker convicted of killing a Saudi national is utterly horrendous. This despite appeals made by the lawyer hired by the Philippine consulate general in Jeddah and the requests sent twice by President Arroyo to the Saudi king asking clemency for Bidoya. The Saudi king refused clemency to Bidoya on the grounds that the victim's family was adamant in refusing to forgive Bidoya, and insisted on their right to the imposition of equivalent penalty. Our condolences to the bereaved family. However, at the same time, it needs to be pointed out that death penalty is a symptom of a culture of violence. By refusing to pardon the offender, the family has failed to show mercy of which Prophet Mohammad was an embodiment. How can such cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment and a violation of the right to life be compatible with faith and Islam? One fails to understand.

  • this is not justice but barbaric ...may your country be saved by your god..

  • I think all country who practice the should do it public. If people can handle to look at it in public they shouldn't support it. I do not have anything against the death penalty but since you don't have 100 percent guaranty in any legal system that person is guilty then... it pretty hard to appeal if new evidence surfaces after the person has been executed.

  • if some one murdered your son or your wife or even your dad, would you forgive them? Having the execution sentence in practice makes the killer think twice before he commits the crime as research shows. You only have to look at the statastics where they have the death penalties to see the murder crime is low. islam alos orders to kill rapists, where as in normal law they only get 5 - 10 years in prision. statastics show rapists commit the same crimes once they out and that is 90% of therm

  • yes there is no fair trial

  • and the one who killed is?

  • i hope guys you wil live in peace but dont forget may some one kills your love ones and i hope you will go to pub and drink glass of beer or russian vodaka

  • What Mohammed merciful

    Please!

Everyone knows the Saudis follow Mohammedan Islam to the Core

  • so if I fuck with your wife, the sentence I deserve should be for your wife to fuck with me ?
