Dr. Zubrin spoke about Mars Direct (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/mars_direct ) before the Mars Society began its 2009 Congressional lobbying effort, visiting over 100 Congressional and Senate offices of representatives. Emphasis was placed upon ensuring heavy-lift capability in NASA's budget.

  • That budget statement isn't entirely accurate. Granted, this was in 2009, but if you looked at NASA's budget for the 12 years spanning from 1961-1972, the yearly average in 2011 dollars is $24.61 billion. This equates to $23.34 billion in 2009 dollars, so he's off by over $5 billion per year. I want to go to Mars more than anyone, and I'm 100% positive we could get it done by 2020 if we invest in it, just Zubrin said. But atleast get your facts right.

  • was his comment about bush edited at 2:13

  • I attended one of his lectures a few years back. He gave a lecture on energy space, and all kinds of stuff. I love listening to him speak. He's definetly a visionary

  • 8.20 US? ho???

  • We've got to get away from this non space ferring attitude of saying, 'WE CAN'T." No great explorers have ever said they "can't." Mars is the best case we have for experimentation of if we can leave our home planet and thrive. The future species of mankind may depend on our ability to spread our seed on other home worlds. One cannot and should not stay in his cradle forever. Robert Zubrin is a great, inspiring man with a vision and a mission for all of mankind.

  • Ofcourse they didn't develop any new technology from 1997 till now, all of the economic and technological power is used to control the masses. If you look at everything from 1990 till now you will see that there is a decline in science interest.

  • this guy is a genius, why are people not listening to him? this guy should be more famous,

  • science will win !!

  • What are we doing in earth orbit, space is huge, i would like to explore space we this ONE life i get.

  • Support him 100%.. Fuck NASA, Fuck Mars Lets Go To The Nearest Star System.
