I must say I took some satisfaction in reading some of the posts from former Sorenson's students and I am glad that I am not the only one that has less than fond memories of Koosharem. It is true that abuse by staff members did occur, but it was much more common for physical, sexual, and psychological abuse to be carried out by students rather than staff members.

I wouldn't send a child there under any circumstance but the effect it had on me wasn't all negative.

I as well was at this shithole they call a treatment center. What a joke this place was, worse 2 years of my life. I literally had to teach myself through highschool. Two middle fingers skyhigh, FUCK YOU Sorensons ranch, Fuck you with a 10ft pole.

I wasn't a student at Sorensons But lived in Koosharem and NO one respects you, co-workers, family,or your neighbors.Get off your high horse,believe me you of all people don't belong there.You treat staff and the kids like your way better than them but in reality your are an evil little man that thinks he is pretty dang cool cause he is in charge of a few people.Well join reality my friend cause you aint crap and never will be with your personality.Man up little man

This place is a nightmare. Underskilled staff, long history of abuse and cover-up. Don't send anyone you love here!!

@monstamiller I totally agree with your statment about some of the staff only being their because its the only job for miles. one staff memder told me exactly that "im only here because it the only work arround. I swear that I herd that from the staff members mouth on the bible as god as my witness. But your right some of the staff did care .

I went to sorensons ranch when i was 13. i smoked cigarettes and experimented with marijuana. my parents found out about sorensons school through a therapist they tried to make me attend. because i was adopted the state would pay for it so my parents gave it a shot. i was there for a total of 24 months. whie i was there i was subjected to child abuse. A small number of staff really wanted to help the kids there but most of them did it ust because it was the only job they could find in Koosharem.

Well its been 15 years since Sorensons . Now I know the real reason I was shipped to this school . My Dad had all the money in the world . He was an Alcoholic . They thought I was the problem. The problem that screwed the family up was my dads drinking,not me. I know that now. Befor you send your kid off and blame him look at the parents. What role did they play?

I wonder why marissas comment was removed? I have witnessed some staff child abuse at Sorensons. I hope they have changed. Kids beating up other kids while staff watched, but left the area with a blind eye. and Tom Baldwin choking a kid (Dwane Kentris) while holding him off his feet against the gym wall. I guess it was to help him.
