How can a song be interpreted so differently by a same singer? Only time will tell. In 1970 she was a young girl, full of dreams and ideas... 30 years later, she's much older and interpreted this song is like a mother telling her children her own experience...

aching
haunting

I doubt anyone else could have pulled off this Nelson Riddle-esque version of Both Sides Now.
Joni is a master.

The beauty is, there is no words for this.

Really, she is the Mozart of our times. We are so bombarded, so inundated, and even the language of our thoughts is intruded upon. Joni gives us a real framework, a simplicity that has depth, and in her later work, a journey into jazz. She is unequaled.

The thing is to see this song played in 1970 and then see its 2000 version. Thats "both sides".
