Casey Jones by Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter, performed by Glenn Weiser on guitar, harmonica, electric bass and vocals.
Many songs have written about the heroic Mississippi railway engineer who in 1900 died a heros' death in a head-on train collision slowing down his locomotive to save the passengers and crew in the oncoming train.
According to Grateful Dead biographer Dennis McNally, Hunter had a dream in which he saw the words to the song written on a piece of paper. Garcia then set the verses to music.
Here the harmonica begins with train sounds, you hear the train wreck, and then the acoustic fingerstyle arrangement begins.
