There is no difference on the quality between either video.

Wow... I was thinking about maybe buying the Canon ZR850, but now I'm rethinking it................ I dunno though... I'm looking for a pretty good quality camera that takes still photos, and good quality video for under $300... Could anyone suggest anything?
-
No, it shoots natively in 16:9 with a 16:9 CCD sensor. However, in photo mode, it crops the 16:9 to 4:3. I recommend never ever taking a photo with it; they just don't look good. Though, I've used them as reference points for video.

Correct me if im wrong, But i belive the 850 just takes out the top and bottom of the 4;3 frame?

yes Hd 16:9 linving in conato

I never uploaded an HQ version. This is just YouTube uping it to a HQ format. My knowledge of video encoding has improved greatly since 2008 and thus so has the quality of video I've uploaded. That's why there's test video.

While you can hear the camera in most of the video I shoot (especially if you know what to listen for), this is not a good piece of video to judge the volume of the camera. It was a windy day with every kind of insect buzzing around and vehicle rushing up and down the road.
However, if you are looking for a good entry level camera with good mic that doesn't pick up the camera, this isn't it. I got it because it was cheap and knew I'd replace most of the audio anyway.
