The roles of parent, counselor, police, form filler, advocate, healer, encourager, form filler, supreme example, secretary, peace maker, form filler, priest ( pastor-rabbi-imam-shaman...), motivator, and...teacher??...are all supposed to come together in one person (according to 'The System'). That would be The Teacher!

Talk about a Superman!!! No one person within any one system can measure up to those expectations! Teachers are supposed to be Superman, but The System is their kryptonite.

@Palmettovmp1 Most teachers, public and private are caring, conscientious, competent professionals. Private schools put out a better 'product' because they generally get to pick and choose better materials. Public schools have to accept all who come. Private schools don't have to accept the slow, the special needs, the problem students.

private schools are better schools because they are expensive. they don't just choose kids who they assume are perfect stepford kids. They only 'pick and choose' as you put it, wealthy children who can foot the bill of a decent education. They are better because they are not funded by property tax. Most public schools are funded by the neighborhood property tax, if you live in a poor neighborhood then you go to a poor school. period.

@MisterBlueSky1000 Why did ppl flag you over this comment? Ppl are stupid! You're completely right. We live in weird times my friend. Parents don't encourage any respect on their children, yet they expect the teachers to deal with their bad behavior. A teacher can do so much having to deal with all that crap. They blame the schools and yeah, some are pretty bad, but the students are not quality either. A kid is 7 years old and he doesn't even know how to talk? Are you kidding me?!

@monkeydanny123 Yeah... it's sad. There are classes in US schools that are so irrelevant, like French class... Who the hell needs to learn french unless you're studying French literature or you're going to visit France LOL. I think it's a pretty lame reason to learn a language just bcs it sounds cool. Spanish is more important since there are more places that speak Spanish and most ppl here speak Spanish anyway. School education needs to be re-designed for more efficiency and less time...

@monkeydanny123 Actually... You are absolutely right. It's a waste of time and money. To take 12 years of school for you to learn the basics which are: reading, writing and math. Everything else you can learn on your own or in college. Maybe u should ask your parents about home school or something... IDK... Just try to enjoy school as long as u can though... meet people and stuff...
