  • After all this time, my favourite Purple album is Come Taste The Band. I love this line-up, and this performance is just funkier with Bolin's take on it.

I felt Ritchie did the right thing leaving Purple and, for him, went on to better things with Rainbow, especially the Rising album.

  • A comment to all: Tommy Bolin was an excellent successor to Blackmore because he was a very different player. Quite frankly no one on earth could replace Blackmore who, in my mind, is the greatest rock guitarist of all time. I think he's better than Hendrix. But to get back top Bolin, if you cant top what you had, change it around a bit. Listen to the Stormbringer album then Come Taste the Band. If you had no idea who the guitarists were they follow each other very well! Purple rules!

  • 163 people closed their ears to Coverdale singing like a strangled cat

  • Coverdale squeak squeak like a cat.

  • Ian Paice - push push push!! what a drummer! Tommy did good here

  • You have made excellent points and my sentiments exactly...I loved the addition of Hughes and Coverdale...Burn and Stormbringer..and then "Come Taste the Band"...Where out of my Billy Cobham/James Gang FUnk here comes Tommy Bolin...Loved his solo LPS....RIP TOMMY BOLIN>...

  • This track is the only one known to me where Bolin is on par or even surpasses Blackmore on a classic MkII/Mk.III tune. Very good. Of course, Coverdale and Hughes sing as dreadful as one gets used to while listening to their live performances from that time, but, surprisingly, they fail to destroy the song completely.

  • Bolin was so cute! RIP

  • Tommy Bolin does a great job on this Blackmore "Classic". Tommy Bolin does this with lots of finesse -- a great version of Stormbringer.

  • the reason Blackmore left is because he didn't like the funky, soul genre the band had taken on, so to replace him they weren't trying to get a Blackmore clone ,they obviously wanted someone to better suit their new direction

  • -SORRY I DONT LIKE WHAT COVERDALE HERE SINGING...

  • @jeffreygaudreault huh ??? the more u listen the more u will learn and give up giving foolish comment
