My grandparents Joseph and Josephine Torres were on the team of organizers for the first Mission District Parades called La Fiesta Latina. This video shows my grandparents with such notables as Senator Sala Burton (Nancy Pelosi currently holds this seat), Senator Milton Marks, Mayor Joseph Alioto and leaders of the Spanish Speaking Community in San Francisco in the late 60s. It also shows my grandfather being interviewed by KPIX Veteran Reporter Belva Davis.

The video then goes on to show the Parade and then the Festival.

On hand were the stars of La Mission:

Peter and Benjamin Bratt were there as grand marshals of the Parade. Also there signing autographs were Jeremy Ray Valdez and Jesse Borrego. These two were very gracious and accommodating despite my over the top as usual behavior. Thanks for tolerating me guys .

My coworker Maria Reyes was there. She shocked me by calling out my name as she drove by in one of the low riders that went by. You're too funny Maria.

Oh, and I believe that was Dawn Rosales in the red convertible giving me the La Raza Fist. You're smile is unmistakable.

I also want to thank my new homies, Israel Jimenez and Pepe, for the great La Mission poster. I love the poses guys and Pepe I love your tatoos and nipple rings.
