Scottish MP Angus Robertson asks Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett a question regarding matters concerning Scotland. A Labour backbencher mutters "Who Cares?" - at which both sides of the Commons begin laughing.

Ad hominem attacks and ill-informed bluster which relies on nothing more than bitterness and Anglophobia. No facts. I wouldn't expect any less from a separatist, it's the only thing you've got.

On average, Scotland DOES get more spent on it than the UK average per capita, per head. Scotland fetches approx. £43 billion in tax and gets approx. £60 bn. spent on it.

What we in Britain have in abundance is social capital. As a nation we are free to enter college and university courses and gain skills which allow us to move around Europe and the rest of the globe. Our universities create diversity by competing for contracts in science and technology, the industries of tomorrow. In a divisive state we will lose that wealth and become atomized by national identity. We will still be joined in union by the monarchy and will become a rabble of legal abuse.

Alex Salmond appeases the Scottish working class with policies such as free prescriptions. He uses pseudo socialist policies to baffle voters into believing his party are a party of the left. In reality his promises to get rid of Trident are a rouse so that once he has control of the resource he can barter for a better deal. The Scots will vote No on independence and Alex Salmond will become an MSP where he will be a laughing stock in Europe. A pale shadow of Napoleon or more of a Yoda figure.

Don't assume things you know nothing of - my mother's Scottish, making me half-Scottish. It's a land I love deeply and it would break my heart to see it leave the Union and slip into obscurity, not to mention make half my family foreigners.

The rights to NSO belong to the UK. If you leave and want them, you'll have to send your navy (assuming you can pay for one).

Even assuming you secured the rights, how long do you think the NSO will last? If that's all you've got good luck paying (cont.)

"Put it another way: Scotland provided 9.4% of total UK revenues and got 'only' 9.2% of UK public spending in return"... pretty much says it all.. your numbers you quoted did not take into account tax and revenue from the oil which you will find belongs to Scotland.. But hey. lets not let the truth get in the way of an angry little english unionist.. If England subsidizes Scotland why are you all fighting tooth and nail to keep us in the union? haha

It's already in Scottish control in all but name you fool. Scotland gets the best deal out of everyone in the Union, must be nice being subsidised by the English, eh?
