  • Smart driving by Alan, looking at the big picture.

  • When I first started watching NASCAR, Kulwicki was my favorite. Thanks so much for posting this, it brings back incredible memories. :D

  • All seasons should end at Atlanta. Screw Homestead, it's too far away from my house. lol.

  • This is probably one of the greatest championship battles in the history of NASCAR, if not THE best.

  • This truly was the last great chase for a championship! Alan was such a class act in so many ways!

  • @TyVulpine: The first really smart driver, he drove half the time and made calculations the other half...

  • man! the cars back then looked so cool! alot better than the crap they use now.... these were definately nascar's golden years, it was never better than it was in the 90's

  • This season proves why determining a season long champion is alot better than the farce that is the Chase.

  • We'll never have a race like this again. Just some guy doing good in the last few races.

  • Best race I've ever seen was the August 1987 race at MIS. Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, Bill Elliott, Alan Kulwicki, Davey Allison, Dale Earnhardt, Rusty Wallace and Buddy Baker all fighting for the lead with 30 laps to go. Nice mix of three Fords, two Pontiacs, a Buick, a Chevy and a Olds.

  • Yeah. Too bad I wasn't a NASCAR fan back then. (Didn't get into it until 1997)

  • However it went, it was awesome. I've been a fan since '86 and this is by far the best and greatest race I have ever watched. There was just so much in this race and so much drama. So glad I was able to be alive that day.
