From master director Claude Berri (Jean de Florette) and starring two of France's brightest young stars, Audrey Tautou and Guillaume Canet, comes an enchanting romantic fable about a collection of misfits in Paris.

Camille (Audrey Tautou) is doing her best to disappear. She barely eats, works at night as a cleaner, and lives in a tiny unheated attic in an 18th century apartment building that also houses the ornate apartment of the stuttering aristocrat Philibert (Laurent Stocker).

Philibert, who sells postcards outside a museum, is every bit the gentleman when called upon by circumstances. His penchant for helping people is realised when he rescues Camille from her freezing garret one evening and invites her to stay. But Philibert already has an unlikely flat mate Franck (Guillaume Canet), a moody young chef, made more obnoxious by the guilt he experiences for putting his beloved grandmother Paulette (Francoise Bertin) into a home.

Hunting & Gathering is the story of this curious quartet. Without each other, Camille, Franck, Philibert and Paulette's lives feel empty, but through one another they rediscover their passion for life and learn to face the world.

Gorgeously original, full of wry humour and
razor-sharp observation, redolent of Paris, its foibles, its food and its deserted corners, Hunting & Gathering is a universal story of human connection and the nurturing spirit of human relationships.

  • French movies are so much better than anything coming out of Hollywood.

There is substance, beauty, and a heart.

Audrey Tautou is AMAZING, an absolute charmer ! I want to see this so much.

  • this is one of the best films i've seen...so why is it so difficult to buy with english subtitles? i saw this on a plane between aus and the uk and have been trying to buy it ever since. if you haven't seen it and you like world cinema...watch it...if you can bloody well find it!!!

  • @WeAreTAPE I know this comment is old, but its on iTunes.

  • Ce film est certainement le plus beau que j'ai vu, le livre le plus beau que j'ai lu.

Quand tu vois des trucs comme ça, c'est con, mais t'es fière d'être française.

  • the book is soo much better than the film. if you want to get the true essence of this story read the book. but i have to agree that french films are incredible.

  • I saw the romantic parts. -.-' But just because a movie has some romantic scenes it doesn't make it a romantic movie.

  • @AnimalsInMyHeart Well then you should have seen the romantic parts in the movies,.. if not.. well, strange....

  • I HAVE watched the movie, it was on television the day I wrote that comment.

  • @AnimalsInMyHeart if you have seen the movie.. well then you would notice that it's a romantic movie.. and drama of course..

  • And why is this a romantic film? I thought it seemed more like a comedy drama thing.

  • I wanted it to be Philibert and Camille, it made more sense to me, but no. Instead it was Franck and Camille. Franck is boring. D: And Camille seemed more interested in his grandmother than in him.
