@fishbone3333 A large amount of wealth is still being amassed by entities who don't earn it - it's called the government. Government contributes nothing to our GDP (just the opposite), all the TVA funding came from....free market actors. The 'dependency' created by government programs have weakened us and in most cases perpetuates failure with artificial 'fixes'. We're brainwashed into believing government is a solution, it's an illusion. Nothing it does, is exclusive to it.

@dospesentas Say, wasn't a large part of the wealth ammassed up in the early part of this country attributable to people who received no wages?

Life in these Unites States is infinitely superior than 100 years ago. I am not saying that this is because of taxes, but certain government programs have definitely increased the quality of life of millions upon millions of Americans. The TVA comes to mind. Could such an endeavor been undertaken by free market actors / "pioneers" alone?

Perhaps if you're on welfare, then it only temporarily insulates from bad choices and failure - kind of like living in Mom's basement. The bureaucrats have done a good job brainwashing the public into anteing up trillions and fostering dependence in only 100 years (actually the big dependency push has only existed for about 50). Say, wasn't this country founded by independent pioneers who abhorred taxes?

Wiki on 'serfdom': "labor of serfs occupying a plot of land owned by a lord of the manor in return for protection and justice and the right to exploit certain fields within the manor" - don't pay your taxes, you'll soon learn who the 'lord of the manor' is. What do you call working where the fruits of your labor are taken by force? Don't ante' up? To the dungeon with you. It's only been 100 years and some blindly defend the 'lord of the manor'.

@fishbone3333 That's what people did for thousands of years. Glad you see the light. Hard to imagine, only 100 years ago there were no federal taxes on individuals. Now, every man, woman and child owes $50k in federal debt and pays on average $7k/yr. - multiply that for a family of four. You can buy a lot of books, pave a lot of roads and dig a lot of wells for $28k/year/family. People are brainwashed to believe federal taxes are like oxygen - they're not. It's institutional slavery.
