Cool, its nice to have such a polite and intelligent reply, by what you've said we probably have alot in common (choice of martial art, attitude to Youtube) so thank you for being one of the reasonable people in the world.
@Donkyfishy Oh! Believe me when I say I'm not sitting back on easy street with my perfect Wing Chun skills.... I train often because there's A LOT to learn, and a lot that I'm still working on! I tried to make my criticism as constrructive as possible. Actually, next to other YT vids, this isn't bad! I don't troll vids to mock others, I just look around for people with an interest like mine! IF I COULD I'd travel everywhere and train with other people. Thanks for trying to keep me straight!
Your high riding fook sao is not sticking to the opponents wrist check the mile gap out between his riding fook sao and his partners bong sao. Back to dan chi sao i say
@sild123 Well understood. I guess I didn't take into account there are 20 different ways to train chi sau. But I still contend that (~1:40-1:59) he says "there'll be lots of this n that" but the truth is, like you said, it's a drill: the box 1 range teaches all those techniques- it's done for sensitivity- it is cooperative and the point is not to hit, but to learn to pick up changes. If you want to hit the guy you'll have to step in. I think these guys have some holes in their positions too.
@bastonydaga yeah, but to far also makes you playing slapping game, with lots of lap sau, crossed hands etc. just like he says in the video. but , maybe not so close. and being close doesnt mean that you cant train your other technique. chi sao is a drill, not a fight. so you have to be cooperative.
I can't seem to appreciate the range. Chi sau should be trained at the wrist. In that manner you learn to use box1 positions like juts, hyuns(circle), cuts, and pak/laap. By putting two students so close they will never learn the range that keeps them from getting hit in the face! If you are as fast as wing chun can make you, you would never stop a punch from that close!!!

Nobody's perfect. His chi sau is pretty impressive in person, if you get the chance visit his club or a seminar; go for it. Will be well worth it.
