  • I first heard this some years ago at Trinity Hall's music society garden party.

Just as the soprano came in,a blackbird started singing from a tree on the lawn.

It was a special moment I shall never forget.

  • one of the most beautiful pieces for choir i ever heard. it's so simple, but lyrics, melody, harmony and above all dynamics make it so incredibly touching... what a peaceful song...

  • I sang the soprano part of this years ago with a chamber group. It near enough felt like transcendence with we got it right. It will stay with me forever.

  • Utterly beautiful, just sublime - great performance as well.

  • Beautiful, and exquisitely performed by mmy favourite choir. Would love to sing it again.

  • What happened to lux aurumque, sleep and others from e.w.? Why were the removed? :(

  • @Bessie99Big What, they couldn't get a bluebird? What a gyp.

  • this is the most amazing version of this song. I cannot listen to it without having tears run down my face from the sheer beauty of it.

  • Many thanks for posting this!
