LeRoy Clarke At 70, The National Museum of Trinidad and Tobago honoured LeRoy Clarke with an exhibition of works both belonging to the gallery and the artist himself. This was a festive occasion as drummers welcomed guests to his opening located on the upper floor of the museum. There were soft life pan music, enactments related to poetry, storytelling and African affirmations and prayers.
In 2005, Clarke had a major retrospective at the National gallery. But this time the body of is smaller, yet his paintings still show the mechanics behind the artists, but also gives the public the opportunity to take a closer look to how he paints, in textures, compositions, colour and concepts pertaining to him masked as a kinetic puzzle.
