great russian maestro of ice hockey

It's sad that Datsyuk is of a dying breed now. He's one of the last few remaining Russian NHLers that grew up through the USSR system. The most recent and prolific Soviet NHLers are Datsyuk, Fedorov, Mogilny, Kovalev, Yashin, and Bure. These guys played hockey for the Soviet Army so their training regiments were ridiculous compared to today. That's why it'll be more rare to see players of their skill to come out of Russia nowadays. Sure there will still be some, but def. not as many.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Yzerman, and Shanahan were far better then Datsyuk and Zetterberg.

@SKshooter Honestly, I don't think you can compare them. They each have vastly different styles and I think are pretty evenly matched in terms of their importance to the team. Yzerman is in his own league considering what he actually did for the Red Wings organization in the first place. He brought the Dead Wings back to life.

not a Wings fan (born as a Habs fan) but I love the Wings. To me, they represent the perfect team. It's impossible to hate players like Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Lidstrom.
