Lake Sturgeon release, French Broad River, Tennessee

Over 1,000 lake sturgeon reared at the Warm Springs National Fish Hatchery, Georgia, were released into the French Broad River at Seven Islands Wildlife Refuge by Chad Shirey, US Fish & Wildlife Service, August 27, 2008. The sturgeon were raised from eggs provided by Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources from the Wolf River near New London, WI, in April, 2008. Assisting in the release is Casper Cox, Tennessee representative of North American Native Fish Association (NANFA).
